Program for parents, deaf and hard of hearing children and hearing brothers and sisters!

Grapevine, TX 76051
Come join us for lunch and social time with your families! After lunch, the younger children (deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing) can attend children’s programs, while parents and high school students attend a presentation on self-advocacy skills with input from Deaf and Hard of Hearing adults.
Sign language interpreting and assistive listening devices will be available. If other special communication accommodations are required, requests must be made by November 1st

Registration Information:
Childcare registration must be received by Nov. 1st in order to guarantee a space, after that childcare will be based on availability. To register, contact Lisa Crawford at 512-462-5447 or email at lisa.crawford@tsd.state.tx.us . Provide name, phone number, email address, number of adults and children attending, ages of children and any accommodations needed.

Feb. 14-15 – Austin: Negotiation Strategies Training for Parents.

The DARS Office for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services is sponsoring this 2-day training from 9am-5pm, both days. The presenter is Jamie Ruppmann, nationally renowned child advocate. The target audience is for parents who have children with hearing loss, but many of the strategies will cross disability lines. June 24-28 – Sulphur, OK: American Society for Deaf Children (ASDC) Family Conference. –. Oklahoma School for the Deaf (It’s not in Texas but it’s within driving distance!) Go to http://www.deafchildren.org/convention.aspx for more info. Register by May 30th.
June 26-27, Austin: Texas Parent to Parent (TX P2P) Family Conference . Go to www.txp2p.org for more info.
Past Events
March 29th - Kick Off Picnic in San Antonio
This picnic was a huge sucess for our first TX Hands & Voices Event. There were over 50 atendees and people came in from all over Central and South TX; Blanco, Comfort, Beeville, Austin and Laredo. Thank you to everyone that came out and supported the New TX Hands & Voices Chapter.
